Hello, my name is Mandy Downes. I am an experienced, fully-qualified and fully-accredited counsellor, with a B.A. degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. I live and work in Blessington, County Wicklow. I am currently completing a Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
I am married to Ron and have two adult children and four grandchildren. I have a background in banking & finance and education. I started my life-long journey of counselling and psychotherapy in 2010 and that journey continues today. I am a kind, open-minded, supportive, non-judgemental person who genuinely cares about people, their mental health and wellbeing.
My professional approach to counselling is grounded in person-centred therapy, choice theory and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). My work in the field of education, both in Ireland and abroad, has afforded me the opportunity of working with adults and children from around the world, from many different and diverse backgrounds. This I believe has given me an invaluable insight and understanding into people, their culture and beliefs and value systems.
I also provide a counsellor service in The Swan Family Support Centre, Dublin on a voluntary basis, and I have previously worked in a voluntary capacity with AWARE and with Village Counselling Services, Dublin.
As a professional counsellor, I am an accredited member of the Association of Professional Counsellors & Psychotherapists in Ireland (APCP), membership number MBR11108, and I adhere to the APCP Code of Ethics and Practice.
